Day Forty-Eight – “Business As Usual” (In For A Penny / Dreamers)

He sees you in his wife’s clothes, wearing the brooch his mother gave her on their anniversary and carrying on with business as usual. At breakfast the next morning he wraps his hands around his mug of tea and tries to explain to her that “it was you, love, but… not you, you know?” as she puts together lunchboxes for the kids and checks folders for missing homework. He watches her more closely than usual, memorising every line on her face; she hates them, covers them up with powders and creams, but he resolves never to forget them again.
