Day Fourteen – “Back and Forth” (In For A Penny)

In for a Penny has returned! Apologies for the few-day absence.

We used to play on the swings every day after school – we looked out for each other, defended each other against the older kids and imaginary terrors alike.

Then you let your guard down. Just for a minute.

It was late, the park empty besides us two. There was a rustle in the bushes and you went off to investigate – when you came back, I was gone.

Now, you only go back there when you’re asleep. It’s even emptier in your head – just you and my swing, still swinging without me in it, and the rustling thing in the bushes.
